Psychological Assessments

A psychological assessment (or psychological evaluation) is conducted to provide a clear picture of what someone is experiencing. When someone is having emotional, relational, behavioral, or social problems, it can be related to a number of complex stressors. Psychological assessments are conducted to identify the cause of symptoms, determine a correct diagnosis, and identify the proper course of treatment. The purpose of an evaluation is to untangle that complexity and fit it with the diagnostic criteria for a psychological condition. It can be particularly helpful in differentiating between similar disorders, multiple diagnoses, and complicated symptoms.

Procedure

The Procedure for evaluations typically involves a clinical interview, in-person testing sessions (usually between 1 and 3 sessions lasting several hours), consultation, and review of relevant records. A comprehensive report is then written that includes background information, results from testing, diagnosis, and specific recommendations/resources tailored to the individual. A feedback session is also provided to review the findings in detail.

Since each evaluation is unique to the individual, please reach out for a consultation for your specific needs. We complete evaluations with individuals aged 16 and up.

Frequently Asked Questions

01

How long do assessments take to complete?

The short answer is that it depends! Typically you can expect an eval to take 1 - 3 months.

03

How much do evaluations cost?

We do not have a flat rate for psychological assessments as each one is as unique as you are! You can expect a range of around $1500 - $3000.

02

Do you do ADHD evals?

We do! However, often times people mistake their symptoms for ADHD since attention problems are a common symptom of almost every mental health disorder. We provide differential diagnosis and full evaluations to determine if ADHD is present.

04

Do you accept insurance?

We do not accept insurance for assessments. The reason for this is that insurance companies do not pay out for many assessments, leading to few providers willing to accept insurance for these services. This is why practices that accept insurance often have year-long waitlists. We are able to schedule you immediately.
